Excerpts from Female Anatomy, by Dr. Paul Richer

Here are images of a few of the most interesting plates from Dr. Paul Richer’s Nouvelle Anatomie Artistique du Corps Humain. vol. II – Morphologie La Femme. If you are not familiar with Dr. Richer’s work, he wrote the seminal volumes on artistic anatomy in the late 1800’s. They have become the standard by which all other artistic anatomy books are compared. His first first volume, on male anatomy, has been translated and is still in publication, definitely a classic.

The plates show here are taken from the original French volume, ca. 1890. This work has also been recently translated and is now available to public. You can find it here: New Artistic Anatomy: Female Morphology
